I think the posters criticizing this decision are right.

Who wants an event that gives a way to work on your lucky title, your gamer title, sweettooth and boozehound titles? Who wants a way to make easy gold?

Why couldn't they have made the event only apply to the region that suffered the most lag - the European. I'm sure those of us in the Americas would have understood that decision and held our tongues while those across the pond repeated with a reduced-lag version like we enjoyed over here.

And really, is it too much to ask Anet to delay the launch of GW:EN to fix all glitches with the Dragon Festival? That's a trade-off we players would gladly make. Is it so hard to understand. We would rather have no festival at all than an imperfect one.

Once again, Anet makes every decision wrong.

(Hey Anet bashers? Can I get in your cool club now?)

real good of anet
2 requests, 1), itll be brillant if we can have assigned drops (unassigned drops make huge aggro)

2), those that did the quests etc last time, can do them again this time

a nice followup would be a double sunspear/lightbringer/kurzick/luxon faction weekend, then some pvp weekend

Urgh its on the actual www.guildwars.com homepage, bottom right hand corner, but it doesn't actually mention it on its own festival page.

I was also wondering, what the hell is it talking about, unless this is something related to taking outposts and stuff on factions :/ then again I don't really take part in the controlling outpost thingy anyway.

Yea looking for the update notes yesterday i came across this, didnt bother reading the whole thing (Had an RSS feed next to it), bit odd.

What they should do, although they certainly won't is make the ring games a seperate outspost.

You ever try walking to storage in shing jea?
The second you get up the hill near the bridge ... lol choppy like a MOFO!

I feel strange criticizing it because, hell, it's something to do and I can work my sweet tooth title pretty good, but there's a law of diminishing returns here. I think it's another sign how thin they are stretched.

edit: two more thoughts:
1. If they want to redux someting, how about Wintersday.....something that didn't JUST HAPPEN
2. This sets a tough precedence. Now everyone will want a repeat of every holiday event
Widespread latency issues are the reason for this redux. Myself...12,000ms pings, which ANet claimed "was entirely on my end." Nope, no coincidence at all being that the problem came and went with the event.

I'm glad someone over there felt it fair to replay this one.

I swear some of you people would bitch if they hung you with a golden rope. To those who couldn't enjoy the event it's a nice gesture on Anet's part to let them have a shot at enjoying it this time around. If your un-happy with them having the event don't participate, good lord !

I just hope I'll be able to pick up a present that spawns at my feet, before someone halfway across the map snatches it.

It's nice though, because I will get to enjoy the mini games that I missed last time.

I hope they don't bother with the randomly dropping presents again.. There were a few locations you could stand to pick up four-six every few seconds. It's one of the most broken things in the game I've ever seen. People were making 50 odd Platinum every finale, not counting the amount they were making from selling the tokens by repeating the quests over and over.

Hey, all,

It appears that Shana, one of our programmers, will be working on code changes that will assign the presents during the DF finale gift drop. The new code then has to pass through QA testing. We appreciate your input on this, and it appears the majority prefer assigned presents, so we'll do our best to move in that direction with this week's Dragon Festival Redux.

On a personal level I hate assigned presents, I'm one of the fast and tricky people who can collect presents faster then people can blink. Get me a nice lil stash out of it too.

But because there are people like myself in the game I know we need assigned presents. Gotta make it fair for the others

Reading this thread, I can only weep for humanity at large (or at least hope the posters here are not representative for humanity at large).

So much ignorance. It's just baffling.

Thanks a lot for this re-run, ArenaNet.

But for the love of Balthazar, stop listening to the incessant whining on these forums.

Most of what went wrong since the release of Prophecies has been due to absolutely ignorant people making ridiculous demands on message boards like these.

Please continue making this great game like YOU intended it.

Generally speaking, it's simply a bad idea to ask people what they want, as they don't actually have the slightest clue what's good for them.

The only thing I want fixed in the festival are the rewards in the missions.

50 tokens for killing so much enemies during more than one hour with a party of 4 it's just a bad joke. You get 240 in less time than that just by making the quests.

Rewards should be given in each rift closed and each enemy group vanquished.

I managed to get a mask last time but didn't get much of a chance to actually play the festival. Not anets fault, so thanks anet for the festival rerun.

PS. GWEN comes before all though. I don't care if you don't run a single event form now to the sneak peak and the 31st, but as long as GWEN's playable then you'll have at least one satisfied customer.

This makes be VERY paranoid.

The last most recent Dragon Festival was the first ever time in my GuildWars play history that i have been affected via lag and ping ms speeds. As soon as that event had kicked off the game became unplayable for me. Mind you, this was the first ever time an event has affected me, and i had always maintained a very good connection to Anet servers hardly ever jumping over 100ms.

It took a full 2 weeks after the event ended for the problem to stop. I had exchanged info and was trying to work with Support on this issue, but was never officially told it was truely server side issues. I knew already for a fact that it was never client related, as i had spent days and days checking all possible problems at my end...

anywhoo, long story short... Anet! Are you going to screw me over again? Please PLEASE PLEASE please take special care in preparing server capacity AND maintainence to avoid such problems for (am sure mayn others experienced what i did) others. Thanks! And here's hoping for no problems. LOL?

cheers.

I think the best "fix" for this, would have been to explain the drop system. It looked like presents dropped on player locations (so more would appear near groups) and possibly on NPC's too. So, yeah, if you insist on competing over a populated spot you could potentially score very well (or not), but if you just wanted your own presents, there were plenty of quiet places to go stand.

No biggie, I suppose, but watching people hang around waiting for the assigns to go away, always gives me the creeps. At least unassigns made it feel like a game.

Nice work. Last event was a bit downgraded by lag and mission bugs. Also the non-assigned present drops were disappointing many.

I'm glad to see it gets a new chance.
